Through Healthy Homes Tauranga, the residents of rural communities have a voice and a say in how their living conditions and recreational opportunities are being improved. The group was formed in 2021 when it was felt that Tauranga and the rural communities were not well served by the government and voluntary groups which were committed to improving the quality of life through housing and other community developments. Healthy Homes Tauranga brings together these different community members to focus on the common concerns and build on collaborative efforts to improve the quality of life in all areas of life.

Healthy Homes Tauranga is a registered charity incorporated under the New Zealand Society of Association for Managers and Supervisors (NZSASS). The NZSASS is the governing body for professional standards in the health and social care industry. Healthy Homes Tauranga has developed a set of strategies for improving the health and welfare of the residents of rural Tauranga. Healthy Homes Tauranga is an initiative of the National Health and Family Service (NHSFHS), a Government agency which deals with the needs of families and individuals in rural and remote areas throughout New Zealand.
